Paying for CPAP supplies

Depending on what province you live in, provincial funding might also be available to you.

How much does CPAP cost?

If you have medical insurance through work or independently, you are likely covered for all or a portion of your CPAP cost. Depending on what province you live in, provincial funding might also be available to you.

The cost of your CPAP machine can vary depending on the type of machine and other aspects of your prescription. If you have medical insurance, your CPAP cost can be partially or fully covered, as most insurance plans will cover any mask or machine that you require.

When should I contact my private insurance?

Once you think you have sleep apnea, check with your insurance company to find out what type of coverage you get for CPAP.

However, it is essential that you focus on the machine, mask, and accessories which best meet your therapy and comfort needs. We will encourage you to try different options in order to find the solution that works for your therapy needs and your budget.

VitalAire does not typically bill your insurance company directly because of privacy policy that protects your information, but we can provide any information wherever you need it

Assistive Device Program

In Ontario, the provincial government helps you pay for your APAP, BiPAP, or CPAP machine with funding that is available through the Assistive Devices Program. Almost everyone who has sleep apnea is eligible, and once you choose your machine, we will automatically deduct the government’s portion for you.

Other provincial funding programs

Saskatchewan – The SAIL program offers co-pay funding for CPAP machines.

Manitoba – Manitoba covers many of your CPAP needs.  Co-pay funding has been introduced in Manitoba as of spring 2018.

Alberta – The Income Support (IS) program covers CPAP machines for the treatment of moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea when it is medically needed.

Limited provincial government funding for CPAP therapy is available in other provinces.

Most private insurance policies provide coverage for CPAP therapy and let you select the CPAP machine, mask, and accessories that are right for you

Indigenous & Veterans funding

Additional government funding for CPAP supplies may be available to those who are eligible, through the Veteran Affairs Canada (VAC) and Non Insured Health Benefits (NIHB).
