VitalAire Helps CPAP User Achieve his African Safari Dreams

An African safari has always been a dream. Unfortunately, because I have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and use a CPAP machine, the problems associated with power at remote bush camps have always been a deterrent.
This year a tremendous opportunity arose for a safari in Kenya with a group of travel agents (including my wife) and companions (me). The trip would include visits to three game reserves – Tasvo West, Tsavo East and Masai Mara – where we would stay in four different bush camps for a total of 11 nights. These camps do have generators, but they are generally turned off at night or are just not set up to provide power in the tents. There are solar generators for the tents, but they are only sufficient for low-level lighting.
As soon as the trip was proposed, I contacted the wonderful VitalAire office in Victoria where I have obtained all my CPAP machines over the past 20 years. As it turned out, VitalAire was in the process of acquiring a new portable CPAP machine from Transcend and very kindly offered to provide one to me for the trip! I gratefully accepted and it all worked out superbly!
My Transcend portable CPAP machine came with a multi-night battery, a power supply, an adapter for my hose and a portable solar charger. The total weight was only 2-3 kg, so there were no problems with transportation. In the bush camps, I would use the battery overnight and charge it during the day using their generator. It worked very well. This machine was dependable and quiet and my wife was very appreciative!
This CPAP has opened up a whole new world of travel for us and we are very appreciative.
Thank you!
